John Deere's tractor lineup spans nearly a century, and the manuals changed with the machines:
Letter Series (1934–1952) — Models A, B, G, D, H, L, M, R. These are the styled and unstyled classics. Factory service manuals are rare originals; most available today are high-quality reproductions. I&T Shop Manuals cover all letter-series models.
Numbered Series (1952–1960) — Models 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 520, 620, 720, 820. Transitioned from the letter designations. Factory manuals available for most; I&T coverage is excellent.
New Generation (1960–1972) — Models 1010, 2010, 3010, 3020, 4010, 4020, 5010, 5020. The 4020 became the most popular tractor John Deere ever built — we carry the complete service manual, parts manual, and operators manual for every serial number range.
Generation II / Sound-Gard (1972–1982) — Models 4030, 4230, 4430, 4630, 8430, 8630. The ROPS cab era. Sound-Gard cab service procedures are included in the factory service manuals.
