About the International Harvester 706
The International Harvester 706 was produced from 1963 to 1967 at the Farmall Works in Rock Island, Illinois, launching IH's 06 series and replacing the aging 460/560 line. Available with four engine options — 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder gasoline, and 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder diesel variants producing approximately 73-80 PTO horsepower — the 706 introduced the Torque Amplifier 8-speed transmission to a new generation of operators and helped re-establish IH's competitiveness in the row-crop class. Approximately 4,800 units were built. The 706 is a foundational tractor in the IH restoration community and the parent of the entire 06-series that followed.
