About the International Harvester Farmall M

The Farmall M was produced by International Harvester from 1939 to 1954, the larger and more powerful counterpart to the Farmall H. Powered by the IH C248 4-cylinder engine producing approximately 36-38 horsepower in gasoline, distillate, and LP-gas variants, the M was the choice for farms running larger row-crop equipment. Over 270,000 units were built across the production run. The M shares many service procedures with the H but uses a substantially larger engine and heavier-duty drivetrain — making model-specific manuals essential. The M is also the parent design of the Super M, MD (diesel), and MTA (torque amplifier) variants.
