Copy the tractor serial from the plate. On covered models, a trailing T indicates US production and L indicates German production. The 773R prefix identifies a 7020. The 820 and 830 each have a two-cylinder and a later three-cylinder serial table.

John Deere serial number questions
- Where is the John Deere serial plate?
- Check the transmission or rear axle housing. On many two-cylinder tractors, look near the flywheel.
- How do I read a John Deere serial number?
- Copy the tractor serial from the plate. On covered models, a trailing T indicates US production and L indicates German production. The 773R prefix identifies a 7020. The 820 and 830 each have a two-cylinder and a later three-cylinder serial table.
- How do I find the year of my John Deere tractor?
- Find the table for the exact model and series. Read down to the latest year whose starting serial is at or below yours. Where published lists disagree, check both tables.
